Coming soon to a (Circuit) City Near You

I'd been wondering what would happen to the big box where Circuit City once stood in our town and was pleasantly surprised to see that a new tenant had moved in.

Giant Book Sale
has taken over the space for at least three months, and my sense is that the company will be coming to other places with empty big box stores, as well. The company is already in quite a few markets, including Charlotte; Des Moines; Paduca, Ky.; Philadelphia; Greenville, S.C.; and Houston.

Giant Book Sale is a no-frills store specializing in overstock and remaindered books at 50 percent to 80 percent off publisher's prices. I spotted some former bestsellers from James Patterson and Janet Evanovich, as well as tons of cookbooks, business books, romances, mysteries, sports books and children's books. At the store in Greensboro, Giant Book Sale is running a limited time opening special, making the bargain even sweeter. All hardbacks are $4 and all paperbacks are $2.

If you're looking for cheap, good reading material, check out Giant Book Sale.

In Greensboro, the store is located at 2714 W. Wendover Ave. in the former Circuit City. The phone number is 854-5544. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

  1. I was surprised at how good the selection is at this store. I found a number of books that I have been wanting to read for some time.

Obviously, Giant Book Sale isn't going to have the current best-sellers. But they do have thousands of recent titles for yard sale prices.
