Goo Goo Giveaway: $25 Gift Certificate to the Store of Your Choice

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how using coupons as cash netted me nearly $100 worth of food and merchandise for less than $12.

I know there are bargainistas out there who can one-up me when it comes to saving money. I want to hear from you. And to sweeten the deal, I'm giving away a $25 gift certificate to one of these stores: Target, Walmart, Kmart or CVS. You get to choose.

For this Goo Goo Giveaway, I want to hear how you stretch your hard-earned money.

To enter the giveaway, post your favorite money-saving tip in the comments section. Make sure to include your email address, so I can contact you if you win.

You can also earn extra entries by:

  • Subscribing to my blog (use the links to the right)
  • Following Goo Goo Buy Buy on Twitter
  • Becoming a Fan of Goo Goo Buy Buy on Facebook
  • Blogging about this giveaway
  • Tweeting this giveaway (three tweets allowed per day; please include a link to your tweet)
  • Follow this blog (See the link on the right sidebar)
  • Linking to a deal you've scored combining coupons and sales
* If you're already a follower and/or a Facebook fan, post a comment letting me know that.

For each entry, please be sure to post a comment here.

This contest ends Wednesday, July 15 at midnight. I will choose a winner randomly from all comments using Random.org.

Happy bargain shopping, and I can't wait to read your money-saving tips.

I think my best deal ever was getting over 50 dollars worth of Duracell batteries from CVS for under 3.00 w/o having to spend one ECB. I don't have a blog, so I posted it as a status updatte on FB. My friends, mostly single and/or childless, think I'm nuts!

My best money-saving tip is to use cloth diapers. It's better for the pocketbook and for the environment. Everybody wins!

Great tip, RavenousReader. I'm so ready for my son to be potty trained, so we can stop spending so much on disposable diapers.

And Telisha, I want to know how you scored all those batteries without spending a single ECB. You must have had some major coupons to combine with some great sales.

I always try to buy meat when it's on a good sale price, and I stock up enough to last about 4 months, which is usually when it goes on sale again. Thanks!

I think my best tip would be not buying beyond your means. Sure, it may be a hellacious deal, but if it's something you won't eat or wear or don't like... either don't buy it and spend your money on what you need, or if you have the funds, buy and donate! I feel like it's easy to get caught up in the madness of bargain hunting. :)

Unfortunately, I'm horrible at remembering to use coupons. I am good, though, at scoping out good deals. I have a wierd knack of remembering which stores offer which products I use at the best prices and then recognize when there's a better deal somewhere else. I also hit up all the kids' clothing stores when the end of season sales have clothes at ridiculously low prices and buy clothes for my kids for the following year and/or bday and Christmas gifts for nieces/nephews, friends' kids, etc.

I'm an extreme clearancer. I get things for under a dollar all the time on clearance racks. Clothes and make up mostly. I also get shoes, purses, bedding and such on clearance racks for under 5 dollars all the time. Ive even gotten quite a bit of furniture for under 5 dollars. Im clearance crazy! I just became coupon crazy in the last couple of months, and I am just now starting the CVS deals so I'll have to see how that goes!

Although I usually get great deals on food, I always end up making too much, and food gets thrown out. Because of this, and our awesome neighbors, we trade off a few times a week. ON Mondays, I make dinner for us and the neighbors across the street. On Wednesdays, we usually share with the neighbors next to us. This way, we have saved a ton, and everyone gets to be included, and we get to spend lots of time with our great neighbors!

I really like how the new coupon sites are linked to your rewards/store cards. Upromise for instance, will let you select the coupons that you would use online and then when you use your Kroger or Miejer rewards store cards it will automatically use the coupon you selected previously. Anything to make the shopping trip easier!

I save money on clothes for my son by shopping at a consignment shop (it's called SweetPea and it is adorable) they only accept name brand clothes and gently used items! A lot of items are brand new with the tags still on! They also buy back your baby items and will give you more for them if you get credit vs. cash! Also, the offer punch cards so once I spend a certain amount I get a $10 gift card! I love that place! I also joined Kraft Foods First Taste program so I get to try products for free and I get a lot of coupons from them as well!

We buy in bulk (with coupons when possible) then cook from scratch in bulk and freeze in meal sized portions. Frozen meals are great for when it gets really busy with the kids and you might be tempted to just order pizzza because there is no time to cook.

My money saving tip is, when ordering online, search coupon codes. You'll be surprised how many other shoppers post the codes online to share with others.

grow your own herbs and vegetables, it doesn't matter if you only have one of each plant. I save tons of money and free a lot for over the winter

Try out the generic brands! I've found that I like some generic brands much better than the name brands.
